If you have Cubase, and you just created the new connection in your soundcards control panel, it might be necessary to refresh the connection panel in Cubase (there is a button 'Reset connections').Have you routed the dry signal to the right output?.Twist your sound (well, maybe this is the hardest part, given the 4000 parameters of the AxeFx.).Depending on your soundcard, it may be necessary to solo the track with the dry recording. Play the song in loop, there must be a signal incoming on the AxeFx.Since there is a variety of recording programs and soundcards, I can't give any specific advice. Route the dry recorded signal (the one we have recorded before) in your DAW to the output of your soundcard (that may be the hardest part, there's a few errors you can make here).Connect AxeFx Out1 to your soundcards Input. If you have a soundcard with multiple outputs, take not the one with the sum signal. Connect your soundcards output to Input1 on the back of the AxeFx.Have you forgotten to remove the cable from the back input?.Have you set in the I/O menu 'Analog front' if your guitar is connected to it?.You can monitor what you're playing on Output1.You have to be careful with the levels here. Now place an FX Loop block as the first block, then connect the Out2 output to the input of your soundcard. You take a patch which is close to the sound you want to have (just for joy, it's not technically necessary).I don't hear any phase shenanigans in the mids like you can experience with re-amped guitar amps. I think this re-amps MUCH better than with an actual amp head. I notice only a very, very subtle loss of highs with this method. By toggling the FX loop block on and off, it defeats the reamp and lets me really dial the in/out levels to unity. You obviously need to pop an FX loop in your algorithm. Digi Pre DI in-PT HD Cuniberti Reamp (this stage is sort of optional)ĥ. It's up to you.Īs do many, I have a love-hate relationship with re-amping however, I have been really pleased to discover just how well the Axe operates in my re-amp configuration. I usually go a mixed approach, analog in the first phase, digital in the second. When you go digital, there is a bit more that can go wrong. On a side note, in this times of ever-improving firmware, this gives you the opportunity to give older recordings the best sound.įor every of the two phases (recording dry/recording wet) there's two different ways to do it, analog and digital. So reamping consists of two stages, first recording the dry tone, then later recording the wet signal from the AxeFx. You basically record the dry guitar tone to feed it at a later stage into the AxeFx. to no avail.Reamping helps you to find the best tone for a recording. I tried switching connecting the reamp box to Analog input 1, Line Out L. ![]() Is there something I missed in Reaper's or RME Totalmix's routing before all of this? I'm totally confused. I'm absolutely getting no signal for the other track that have recording armed while playing the other recorded clean DI track. Output = Analog Out 1 first, Analog Output 2 last. Input = Analog Input 1 first, Analog Input 2 last. I think I have everything setup correctly in Reaper's Audio Device Settings. I made another track in Reaper with record: Armed, record monitoring: ON, and input:mono -> Analog 2. And yes I have the AN 2's 'INST' button (instrument input) engaged. I connect the Balanced 'Line Out R' from the RME Babyface's breakout cable into the Redeye3D's 'Line Level In' in the rear, from here out to the front of the box 'reamp out' into the input of my ENGL preamp.įrom the ENGL preamp back to my RME Babyface's Input 2 (instrument input on the side of the Babyface, aka Analog 2). Basically everything turned off entirely and the track is just playing the recorded DI signal. For this track, the input is turned off (Input: None), Record Monitoring: Off, and Record Disarmed. In Reaper I have a track with the recorded clean DI signal playing. The way I have it setup at this moment is this. I want to send a mono guitar track from Reaper out into the Redeye3D reamp box into my ENGL preamp then out from the ENGL preamp out into the RME Babyface's Input 2 (instrument input on the side of the Babyface, aka Analog 2). Hi, I've been trying to figure out how to get this to work for hours.
